Omiyaget.com is (going to be) a website where you can ask someone on this planet who is traveling from/to your country to get an OMIYAGE for you. Omiyage is a Japanese word which means ”souvenir”, but Omiyage also means a gift from a trip for your family and friends. In the near future, anyone will be able to register themselves as a traveller and receive requests to buy an Omiyage from around the world, but currently this site is still in test mode so the only traveller registered is myself.
To learn further about the concept of this site, please take a look at my “Travel Notes”. I use these notes to find collaborators, supporters and investors. These notes are more like my vision, so there may be ideas that are unrealistic, more reasonable ways to systemize some of them, or even some of my thoughts may have changed since I wrote this. Please keep in mind a lot is still work in progress. Any updates to the content and plan will be added in the “Plan” category of this blog, so if you have time, please check that out as well.
My friends, and some friends of my friends, have helped build my vision and have added their ideas of “what omiyage they would like from where if this site was built” to the end of this note. Everyone who helped make this note loves to travel, is very creative, has great taste, and is full of curiosity. I love reading through everyone’s notes because you can discover a new omiyage from somewhere on this globe that you had never imagined, so I will continue to add these notes to the “Travel Note” category of this blog. Omiyaget.com. Someone traveling somewhere on this planet will buy the perfect omiyage that can be purchased only at that location, just for you.
All over the world, there are beautiful products that can only be purchase at a particular place, or items that are very expensive if purchased elsewhere. Rare goods craved by geeks, authentic professional tools, exclusive products available only at physical stores, a lucky find from a flea market, a piece of art or handcraft, minor sports and leisure equipment, goods with excellent taste, or local delicious food. With Omiyaget.com, you can find a traveler to buy it for you.
On the map, you can easily see where and how many travelers there are who can purchase the omiyage of your desire. You will then post the omiyage to the shopping list. This shopping list will be viewed by the travelers traveling in the area where your omiyage can be purchased.
The travelers that can help you with your request, will tell you how much it will cost to buy the omiyage for you. You can view the traveler’s profile and reputation and decide whether or not to officially send the request to the traveler.
The traveler that receives your official request will buy the item for you, and return with the omiyage. The traveler will send the omiyage to you from the delivery service counter at the airport.
Omiyaget.com will be responsible for the payment system. All you have to do is excitedly wait for the omiyage to arrive!

Somewhere in the world, there is someone who wants to, but cannot buy something that can easily be purchased where you live. Rare goods craved by geeks, authentic professional tools, exclusive products available only at physical stores, a lucky find from a flea market, a piece of art or handcraft, minor sports and leisure equipment, goods with excellent taste, or local delicious food. With Omiyage.com, you can buy such an omiyage to someone who is waiting at the destination of your trip.
Each country and area will have a shopping list. From these shopping lists, you can easily find out what kind of omiyage is desired at your destination. You may also find someone who may want a great omiyage that you have found, by posting it to your My Page.
To respond to an omiyage request, you will propose to the requester the cost of the omiyage and your fee. The requester will look at your profile, your reputation and your proposed cost, and decide whether or not to officially ask you to purchase the omiyage. If there are other travelers proposing better conditions, the requester might choose someone else.
If you receive an official request from someone, you will purchase the item and return with the omiyage. As soon as you arrive, you will send the omiyage to the requester from the delivery service counter at the airport.
Omiyaget.com will be responsible for the payment system. All you have to do, is to purchase the omiyage and send it to the requester.
